A Single Tree
There’s a tree unknown,
In a wood, not fully grown.
Insignificant.
In the ideal scene,
Individuals unseen.
All of life, the same.
Ash, rose wood, oakheart,
But one tree is set apart,
The evergreen tree.
First, what the spring brings,
Thriving life and flying wings.
Less is the fir’s life.
No blooming flowers,
No berries, juicy, sour.
Only steadfast green.
Sun comes, petals fall
Beauty gone, green leaves on all.
The tree, now, the same
Autumn comes, leaves fall,
Bright and beautiful are all.
Save, the evergreen.
Winter arrives cold,
Trees like skeletons of old.
The fir’s green, gorgeous.
A red robin flies,
The one bird in the blue skies.
Searching for a home.
Tired, in need of rest,
Seeking a safe place to nest
Eyes finding the fir.
Other trees lose leaves,
But it stands when other grieves.
Unique, yet winning.
The winter drags on,
Only the fir seeing dawn.
Unique, so winning.
And that red robin,
And chicks have not forgotten,
That one thriving tree.
The wood, fully grown,
Sees and is seen, same to known
Recognizing all.
